Stage 2 Benidorm – Calpe 193Km

The second stage of Vuelta España 2019 puts the pack into the dynamics of the route with a long race of 193 kilometres, which also presents the first mountain passes.

The first part of the stage will be marked by the winding terrain of the interior of the province of Alicante. A familiar scenario for many of the teams due to the pre-season stages, the race will not give much truce to the runners and will demand a high rhythm from the start in Benidorm, with the climb to the Port of Confrides (2nd category) and the overcoming of the Alto de Benilloba (3rd category) before kilometre 50.

In the final part, and after a first step through Calpe, the runners will climb the Alto de Puig Llorença (Cumbre del Sol), less than 30 kms from the finish and that will serve to make the final cut of the leading group.
