Patron Saint Festivities programming 2016

SATURDAY, 16TH OF APRIL: PROCLAMATION DAY
20.00 h Passacaglia of the festers accompanied by dolçaina i tabal and music bands.

21.00 h. Proclamation of the festivity at the parish church in charge of the doctor Francisco Buigues Mengual.

To follow this, we will all sing the hymn to the Purissima Xiqueta and the hymn of Benissa, accompanied by the band of Sociedad Lírica i Musical of Benissa and the Coral Benissenca. When finished, we will see fireworks in charge of Pirotecnia Dragón that gives way to the fiestas in honour of the Purissima Xiqueta 2016.

THURSDAY, 21ST OF APRIL
LITERATURE PRIZES “25TH OF APRIL” AND PAINTING CONTEST S. SORIA-VILA OF BENISSA 2016
20.00 h. Literature awards “25th of April” and painting contest S. Soria-Vila of Benissa 2016. Presentation of the winning works of the edition at the hall of the art centre Taller de Ivars.

Following, in the exposition hall, inauguration of the exposition of the painting contest S. Soria-Vila of Benissa.

22.00 h. Passacaglia of the festers of the town to visit the decorated streets accompanied by…

FRIDAY, 22ND OF APRIL: CORONATION DAY
21.00 h. Passacaglia of the festers accompanied by dolçaina i tabal and music bands.

22.00 h. Gathering of authorities and queens of the festivity of neighbour towns at the Portal square.

22.30 h. Ceremony of coronation of the big and small queen, Sara Devesa Cardona and Andrea Estupiñá Cabrera, at Passeig Dolores Piera. At the end of the ceremony, the party continues with the marvelous orchestra La Pato at Passeig Dolores Piera.

SATURDAY, 23RD OF APRIL: OFFERING DAY
08.30 h. Liturgical ceremony of greeting to our patron saint Purissima Xiqueta.

11.00 h. Child park at Dolores Piera park in charge of Arte Mediterráneo.

13.00 h. Bell ringing and entrance of myrtle with the collaboration of the association of experts of horses and cartwrighters and the association of friends of the cart, accompanied by the band of Sociedad Lírica i Musical of Benissa and colla de Xirimiters.

18.30 h. Evening mass and bell ringing.

19.00 h. Gathering at the square of the convent of the participants of the flower offering to begin the passacaglia to the parish church, accompanied by dolçaina i tabals and music bands.

As follows, performance of the dance group L’Esbart Dansaire accompanied by

dolçaina i tabalet at the square Rei Jaume I.

19.30 h. Flower offering for the Purissima Xiqueta and imposition of medals to the festers.

00.30 h. Fireworks in charge of Pirotecnia Dragón.

01.00 h. Performance of the orchestra “La Fiesta” (Oxido).

02.00 h. Performance of the group Siniestro Total continuing with the orchestra “La Fiesta” (Oxido).

SUNDAY, 24TH OF APRIL: DAY OF THE PURISSIMA
08.00 h. Passacaglia, bell ringing and passacaglia of music bands.

08.30 h. Mass

10.00 h. Passacaglia of festers accompanied by music bands and Colla de Xirimiters

11.00 h. Gathering of festers and authorities at the Portal square.

11.30 h. Solemn mass and sermon in honour of the Purissima Xiqueta officiated by …. The mass will be sung by the Coral Benissenca accompanied by the organist Josep Ortolà i Font and under the direction of Javier Santacreu. When finished the mass, visit to the nursing “San Joaquín i Santa Ana”

14.00 h. Mascletada under Pirotecnia Dragon.

19.00 h. Mass and descent of the image of the patron saint accompanied by the organist Josep Ortolà. Following this, solemn procession in honour of the Purissima Xiqueta and ascent of the image. When finished fireworks will be fired in charge of the Piroctecnia Dragón.

00.30 h. Great musical Superstar “Eventime”.

Once finished we will continue the night with Discomòbil Ilumisound de “Carlos Morató”.

MONDAY, 25TH OF APRIL: DAY OF THE RIBERER
08.00 h. Passacaglia, bell ringing and passacaglia of music bands.

10.00 h. Passacaglia of festers accompanied by music bands and Colla de Xirimiters.

11.00 h. Gathering of festers and authorities at the Portal square.

11.30 h. Solemn mass and sermon in honour of the Purissima Xiqueta officiated by Mr. José Tomás Sala. The mass will be sung by the Coral Benissenca accompanied by the organist Josep Ortolà i Font and under the direction of Javier Santacreu.

13.30 h Flower offering to the Riberer monument. Tribute to the Riberers and proclamation of tribute.

14.00 h. “Mascletada” under Pirotecnia Dragon at Passeig Dolores Piera.

18.30 h. Parade of carriages with child animation in charge of Espectacles David accompanied by “xarangues and batucada”.

19.30 h. Mass.

20.00 h. Big performance DIVERPEQUES for children under Eventime.

00.00 h. Traditional singing of the “Salve” to the Purissima Xiqueta at the old house Joan Vives accompanied by the band of Sociedad Lírica i Musical of Benissa under the direction of Josep Cano Gracià. When finished, crash of fireworks that will go down the Ample street.

00.30 h. Evening fireworks under the direction of Pirotecnia Dragon. Once finished delivery of the stick of commandment to the mayor of the youth Pedro Crespo Soria.

Next, performance of the big orchestra Seven Crashers and Titanic in charge of Exelcior.

THURSDAY, 26TH OF APRIL: YOUTH DAY
08.30 h. Mass.

09.30 h. Women Passacaglia, accompanied by the xarangas.

11.00 h. Special child and teenager park in charge of Espectacles David at the Dolors Piera park, plus “Party Videoconsola” in the parking Dolors Piera.

11.45 h. Traditional rooster race in the Purissima street, with the collaboration of the athleticism club of Benissa.

14.00 h. The festers of 2016 invite the whole town of Benissa to a popular lunch of sandwiches and cold meat from Galan that will take place at the square Rei Jaume I.

18.00 h. Humorous parade with popular participation and music from xarangues and batucada. The gathering of the participants will take place at the square of the social centre Bernia. When finished the parade, prizes will be given out for the costumes, carriages and decorated streets. Once finished popular tea time and musical performance Pirata from the company Espectacles David.

19.30 h. Mass.

22.00 h. Rock night. Performance of the groups: Egalité, Boikot, Itaca Band, Mai Mai and to follow DJ Son.
